Celebrating 400 Years

Manor house, Scrooby England - meeting place of the separatist "Pilgrims"

2006 was the 400th anniversary of the Covenant first expressed and "owned" by a small group of Christians in the tiny hamlet of Scrooby, England.

The people who formed themselves into a "church estate" on the basis of that Covenant have become known in history as the Pilgrims. The Church of the Pilgrimage is a direct heir of the congregational church order which emerged from that particular 1606 Covenant.

A rendition of our Covenant composed by Rev. marks reflecting its poignancy in 1606 and today is presented here for your prayerful consideration:

"We have freely joined ourselves by a covenant of God into a church, into a community of the gospel, to walk in God's ways made known, or to be made known to us, according to our best efforts. We commit ourselves to generosity in service and mission, God assisting us."
